Tahmina Saleem
is a consultant in Muslim community affairs. An LLB (Hons) graduate she worked as a social researcher at Huddersfield University where she co-authored 'Kirklees Young Carers' - a research project that spearheaded the Kirklees areas provision for young carers in 1996 and which continues to today. She has been involved with Islam awareness training since the mid 90's following the Manningham riots in Bradford. In the late 90's she managed a 'New Deal' project in Hackney that focused on helping those with the greatest barriers to overcome to gain training and employment.

Tahmina was the Chair of the Young Muslims UK women's section in the late 90's, a pioneering national Muslim youth organisation catering for the religious and cultural needs of young men and women. Currently Tahmina is one of three women elected onto the central consultative body of YMUK's parent organisation the Islamic Society of Britain.

Tahmina is currently National Coordinator of the award winning Islam Awareness Week Campaign. She recently led a team of trainers who delivered Leadership Training for Muslim women in Hounslow which has since been recognised as a flagship project and received an award from the Government Office for London for innovation.

Tahmina's husband is also very active in community and media work and together they live with their three children in Luton.
